There's no debate, Brandon Ingram is clearly the best player in the NBA under 150 lbs. Brandon Ingram’s short-shorts and untucked jersey style may or may not make him look like a girl wearing her boyfriend's T-shirt, but what’s not debatable is his offensive prowess. At 150 lbs, Ingram is able to dominate defenders who have easily over 100 lbs on him. Not since Allen Iverson have I witnessed a player this small displaying this level of offensive explosiveness. His 6’10 stature and over 7’-plus wingspan at a mere 150 lbs give Ingram a unique combination of size and speed. But, there are caveats to his petite stature. Obviously, if your ability to bench press 135lbs is in question, so is your durability. But, Ingram has proven that even with fun sized arms he can consistently produce throughout a grueling 82 game schedule. So in the debate of best under 150 pounders, who is his competition? Listed at 163 lbs, Kevin Durant barely misses the cut. The only current player under 150 lbs worthy of discussion is Phoenix Suns guard Tyler Ulis. With Eric Bledsoe’s inevitable departure on the horizon, this could be Ulis’s opportunity for some viable minutes. However, given that he plays for the dumpster fire of an organization that is the Suns, I’m sure they’ll find someway to railroad Ulis’s potential. So advantage Ingram. For some historical context, let’s compare him to one of the all-time under 150 pounders. Weighing in at 133 lbs, one could make the argument that Spud Webb is a better player. But after further research, I discovered Webb only actually participated in dunk contest and never logged any regular season minutes in his professional career. So cross him out. That leaves your man B.I. With the jumpshot of Curry (Seth) and the body-type of Manute Bol this kid has the potential to be unguardable and deserves to be allocated first on this list. Early expert comparisons had Ingram slated as the next KD. Though, through one season, the only similarity between the two is their combine bench press performance. We now know he’s no Durant, but Ingram is still regarded as one of the top young prospects in the league. With the addition of a once in a generation talent, Kyle Kuzma, to play alongside Ingram, the Lakers have a punchers chance at the 7 or 8 seed if Ingram can stay healthy. This could potentially be an issue given Ingram’s 150 lbs frame. Lakers Coach Luke Walton told reporters earlier this week that the team has considered having Ingram wear shooting sleeves with a bubble wrap type padding covering the entirety of his arms. Anything that will help keep this kid on the court the Lakers should oblige to. They’ve got a budding superstar, who at 150 lbs defies logic with his uncanny ability to use his lankyness to bully opposing defenses down low. He is hands down the best player under 150 lbs in the NBA.
